The Acer Predator Helios 300 has one of the best price for performance ratio in the laptop world in 2019 so let’s find out why :-
- A beautiful 15.6″ 144Hz Refresh Rate, 3ms Overdrive Response Time, 300nit Brightness & 72% NTSC display .
- A 9Th gen intel I7-9750H Hexa core CPU .
- A GTX 1660Ti 6GB GPU .
- 16GB DDR4 dual channel RAM .
- 256GB PCIe NVMe SSD with another slot available .
- One Available Hard Drive Bay with the mounting bracket included .
Those specs are very hard to find in this price range especially when you know that the laptop is made of an all metal body except the bottom for better heat control and speaking of that, the laptop does a fantastic job of keeping the cpu cool it comes undervolted out of the box and with a little tweaking you can get the full 4.0GHz all core turbo speed and it can get almost 3000 in cinebench R20 test and here is a table with some other tests result
|unigine heaven benchmark 4.0 Ultra||unigine Valley benchmark 1.0 Ultra||unigine superposition 1.0 1080P extreme||Firestrike|
All with CPU temp under 90 degree c so no thermal or power throttling
As for the GPU I think that the GTX 1660 Ti provides a great performance for its price, it’s a decent upgrade from the GTX 1060 and it’s around only 10% less than the RTX 2060 and with turbo boost (overclock) provided by a click of a button on the Helios 300 it even beats some of the RTX 2060 laptop’s in some games
Now for the down side of things :
The battery life is around 4 Hrs. of normal use which might not be enough for a day on the school (for a longer battery life with the same specs I would recommend either the Aero 15 or the MSI GS65 ) plus the laptop isn’t that light at 5.07 Lbs. although that’s a very decent weight for a laptop with those specs and lastly it lacks a thunderbolt 3 port and an sd card reader .
Finally here is a table of some of the available GTX 1660 Ti laptop’s to give you an idea of how it compare in price with the other laptops with he same specs :
